dalai hama [dælaɪˈhɑ:mə] is the digital persona and online pseudonym of Ian Hameroff.
This "nickname" was coined in August 2003 while Hameroff was
employed as an information security professional with (then known as)
Computer Associates Int'l based in Islandia, New
York. In his August 21st article about the Sobig computer worm, Newday's personal technology columnist Lou Dolinar
introduced Hameroff as
"Computer Associates International's security guru". Not long after the
article's publication, friends and colleagues began to lampoon Hameroff's new
title. This eventually lead to the combination of "Dalai Lama" with Hameroff's
existing nickname "Hammer" and "dalai hama" was created. |
